Chair from the Casino Hotel in Sopot (Zoppot)

This is a piece of equipment belonging to the luxury Casino Hotel in Sopot (Zoppot). The hotel was built between 1924 and 1927 using profits from the municipal Casino. The chair was used by hotel guests for resting in the hotel garden, next to the dance platform and the sandy beach. A few years ago, a local artist and antique lover found this chair in a rubbish container and decided to refurbish it. Thanks to pre-war photographs, she soon discovered its original purpose and contacted the Sopot Museum with a loan offer. Currently, the chair is on display in the Sopot Museum as part of the temporary exhibition „The Calm Before the Storm - The Summer of 1939 in Sopot" (presented between 05.2019 and 02.2020).

Stuhl aus dem Kasino Hotel in Sopot (Zoppot)

Ein Ausstattungselement des luxuriösen Kasino Hotels in Sopot (Zoppot), das 1924-1927 aus Gewinnen des Sopot Casino erbaut wurde. Das Objekt wurde von Hotelgästen genutzt, die sich im Hotelgarten neben der Tanzfläche oder am Sandstrand ausruhten. Vor einigen Jahren wurde der Stuhl von einer einheimischen Künstlerin und Antiquitätenliebhaberin im Müll gefunden, die sich entschied, ihn zu renovieren. Bald entdeckte sie dank Fotografien aus der Vorkriegszeit seine Herkunft und seinen ursprünglichen Zweck. Sie wandte sich mit einem Angebot des Verleihs an das Museum in Sopot. Derzeit befindet sich der Stuhl in der Sammlung des Sopot Museum und wird im Rahmen der Sonderausstellung „Ruhe vor dem Sturm - der Sommer von 1939 in Sopot" gezeigt (vom 05.2019 bis 02.2020).
