Summer Boot Camp at the Interdisciplinary Research Institute ZiF in Bielefeld
News from Sep 02, 2020
The corona pandemic also brings research infrastructure and travel to a standstill. The Bielefeld Center for Interdisciplinary Research reacted to empty rooms, in view of Fellows not arriving, by spontaneously inviting research groups from Germany to use the facility for a summer work camp.
The team of The European Spa gladly accepted this opportunity. For one week, we discussed our interim results in the impressive architecture of Bielefeld's Modernism, trained our skills in the field of Digital Humanities (the database and visualization software Nodegoat), and discussed theoretical concepts to underpin the (hypothetical) shift from the spa regime to the wellness society.
At the same time, we had the opportunity to discuss our project with the other Fellows present, who appropriately came from the field of Global History and migration research, among others. The swimming pool and table tennis were welcome distractions. We thank ZiF and the team there for the initiative and hospitality!
